Indulge in the timeless allure of Russian Caravan, a classic Chinese tea blend that captures the essence of a bygone era when tea caravans traversed the plateaus of Mongolia into Russia to deliver their precious cargo to the Imperial court. Renowned for its balanced smokiness, this blend offers a unique and satisfying tea experience.

Reminiscent of Lapsang Souchong but with a slightly milder smokiness and stronger black tea flavours, Russian Caravan is the perfect choice for those who enjoy a hint of smoke in moderation. The smoking process, historically used to preserve the tea leaves during the long journey across Asia, lends a distinctive character to this full-bodied blend.

At Tea Palace, we put our own twist on the classic Russian Caravan by combining the finest quality whole black Lapsang Souchong leaves with spicy Chinese Yunnan tea. The result is a blend of outstanding quality, boasting a balanced smoky flavour and full-bodied character that is sure to delight even the most discerning tea connoisseurs.

Savour the rich history and complex flavours of Russian Caravan, a tea that pays homage to the traditions of old while offering a contemporary twist that is uniquely Tea Palace. About Russian Caravan

Russian Caravan tea is a classic blend with a rich history and a distinctive flavour profile. Originating from the trade routes between China and Russia, this tea blend is named after the caravans that transported tea from China to Russia via camel and horseback, crossing vast distances over the Silk Road.

The blend typically consists of a combination of black teas, often including Lapsang Souchong, Keemun, and Assam teas. Each type of tea contributes its unique characteristics to the blend, resulting in a well-balanced and complex flavour profile.

One of the key components of Russian Caravan tea is Lapsang Souchong, a black tea that is renowned for its smoky aroma and flavor. This tea is traditionally smoked over pinewood fires, imparting a distinctively smoky taste that adds depth and character to the blend.

Keemun tea, another common component of Russian Caravan, contributes a rich and malty flavour with subtle fruity and floral notes. Assam tea, known for its bold and robust character, adds strength and body to the blend, rounding out the overall flavour profile.

The resulting brew is bold, full-bodied, and slightly smoky, with a smooth and mellow finish. Russian Caravan tea is perfect for those who appreciate a rich and robust cup of tea with a touch of exotic flair.

Whether enjoyed on its own or paired with hearty foods, Russian Caravan tea offers a truly satisfying tea-drinking experience that pays homage to the historical trade routes that brought tea from China to Russia.
